Year 1 & 2

COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS FOR YEARS 1 & 2

Gymnasts can choose between the ORANGE, YELLOW (OR GREEN yr 2 ) routines below plus will be required to perform a rebound exercise.

Y1 & 2 -
THE ORANGE ROUTINE


1)    3 steps lifting legs to horizontal

2)    Hold leg in front for 3 seconds

3)    Forward Roll

4)    Tuck jump

5)    Rock backwards and forwards 3 times

6)    Sit in pike position and push to back support position

7)    Lie to dish then roll to arch

8)    Push up to front support position, jump feet in then jump up

9)    3 bunny jumps from side to side

10) Star jump


Rebound: Each competitor will also have two attempts at a straight jump on springboard. Walk to low block, (Single level block) squat on from two feet straight jump off to show good landing


Y1 & 2 - THE YELLOW ROUTINE

1)    Forward roll

2)    Tuck jump into star jump

3)    Pike fold down

4)    Walk hands forward to front support position

5)    Move to back support position then lift leg to the vertical

6)    Rock back to shoulder stand

7)    Move to straddle sit

8)    Straddle fold down (at least half way) join feet and rock to stand

9)    Cartwheel

10) Hold arabesque.


Rebound: Each competitor will also have two attempts at a straight jump on springboard. Walk to low block, (Double level block) squat on from two feet tuck jump off to show good landing


Year 2  - THE GREEN ROUTINE

1)    Forward roll into

2)    Cartwheel

3)    Kick to low handstand

4)    Jump half turn

5)    Hold arabesque - then move hands to floor and stretch leg to vertical (needle kick position)

6)    Backward roll to straddle (from tuck or pike position)

7)    Frog balance

8)    Push to bridge

9)    3 x dish rocks

10) Own choice element


Rebound: Each competitor will also have two attempts at a Squat on to vault widthways and lengthways and dismount off.

Widthways dismount = Star or straddle jump off.  Lengthways dismount. Step / straight jump OR cartwheel

(Double or triple level block depending on gymnast preference)
